Hello and wellcome to the map section. First of all I have to clarify that this is a very very soon ALPHA version. The main purpose to publish it as early It’s because I will really thank any ideas or any help to improve it and to correct the several mistakes that I’m sure it contains, not only graphical, also historical and for the gameplay. I have done all this work by my own so I would be grateful if you colaborate sending your opinions, ideas or comments about this map (and tokens and other sections also) to this email : hellenization@gmail.com, thank you very much for your help.
I have cut the original map in two different parts. One with the main map and other panel with the AST and the Census, the main reason for this it’s the map was being too huge to work with it in one full piece.
You can download two different print quality versions : 150 DPI or high quality 300 DPI, both of them in PDF format.
Some comments about the map : I have tried to use locations from the archaic to the hellenistic period , I have tried to be as accurate as I have been able , understand that I’m not a professional just only an amateur. The main purpose of this map it’s playing advanced civilization using advanced civilization project rules and some few ones modified by me to adjust better the game to ancient greek scene.
You can play the map as you prefer, be free for that. I have designed this map for an optimal number of nine players, but I have included 11 civilizations looking for a widest branch of types of games. In the development I have thought mainly in two different scenes:
1-Historical game : My idea is to reproduce those conflictives ages when during centuries city-states where fighting one versus each other. Playing civilizations would be all except Minoa and Epirus. A lot of conflicts will follow since the beginning of the game between the city-states, Persia and Macedon will have a lot of land to expand their civilizations but few city-dots. Syracuse will live from the distance the greek polis evolution.
2-The balanced game : For those who prefer something more classical and quiet : Playing civilizations would be all except Corinth and Thebes. This can result a less stressful game, I think that the game could be more or less balanced , I have tried to compensate the possible unfairness with a softest AST.
In contrast to the original version and to approach the game to Hellenistic world context I have tried to give more importance to sea domination, the real key for civilizations cultural and demographic expansion during that ages.
Anyway it’s up to you what kind of game do you prefer, as I have told before you are free to use this map as you want.
Have fun !!.
Jon G.
